Description
Elderberry, Sambucas nigra ssp. cerulea ~ Tart, tangy, sweet and astringent, elderberries have a long tradition as food and medicine, make jams and jellies, syrups and lozenges, teas and tinctures. Traditional uses include cold and flu, congestion and cough.
Gathered by hand on the hillside at Oshala Farm, these berries take precious time to make them ready for customers. Because of high demand on our fresh herb sales, we dry very little each year. Our future plans include Elder orchards, which will allow us to harvest much more. For now, savor the potency of this small harvest. We hope to have much more available in years to come! Thanks for your patience as the trees mature.
