Marshmallow Root, Althaea officinalis ~ Mild, sweet, earthy, moistening, cooling. Marshmallow may be considered the queen of demulcents, having an immediately observable mucilaginous quality and being generally safe, gentle, and agreeable. All parts of the plant are demulcent however the root is possibly the most. Traditionally used to soothe the skin, mouth, throat, stomach, and GI tract.
