Rather than viewing spagyrics solely aw a method of extraction, we’ll examine them as an expression of relationship with plants, minerals, and the Earth. Along the way we’ll define what a spagyric tincture is, how it differs from a conventional tincture and discuss the diverse traditions and methods of creation that have evolved over time.
Explore spagyrics through the lens of the Earth’s own biogeochemical cycles by examining how the processes of separation, purification and recombination mirror the continual transformation of the carbon, nitrogen, sulfur cycles that govern our Earth. This class would also explore the historical and philosophical roots of spagyrics from Renaissance alchemy to animistic worldviews around the world, and contemporary interpretations through ideas such as Gaia Theory.
