We are so excited to share with you a new endeavor to lessen our footprint at Oshala Farm. Join us in the trial phase of re-working our packaging to reduce single-use plastic. We believe sending our herbs in compostable packaging is even better for the health of our environment than recycling plastic bags. We are interested to hear your opinion as we trial a few sizes of paper bags that are food grade, organic compliant, post-consumer recycled paper, and are easily compostable. We choose these particular bags to trial verses the cello-lined bags because these bags use less resources and are more easily compostable.
These paper bags are a temporary vessel to get the herbs from our farm to you. To preserve their vital properties, herbs should be stored in impermeable storage containers. Once you receive your herbs:
- Store them in a glass jar
- Store them in a clean reused plastic bag or container
- Store multiple paper bags of herbs together in a bin
Remember to label your containers. Feel free to cut out our label to reuse and stick to your container or a thin piece of cardboard that you can tie on the neck of your jars or container.
We realize that this is going to be a bit of an adjustment for us all, but we believe it’s worth it and hope you do too. We would like to know what you think. Please email us with any feedback.
We hope you will join us on this mission to reduce plastic in your own way. Send pictures of how you store your herbs and feedback to info@oshalafarm.com and if you post, please tag us at @Oshalafarm. And thank you for supporting Oshala Farm!
